WWF in China - 25th anniversary events & activities


To mark WWF's 25th anniversary in China, beginning in May 2005 WWF China will hold a series of activities and events in celebration of 25 years of conservation achievements in China. Please visit this page often as we will be posting detailed information as each event draws near.


Celebrating 1.85 million hectares of new protected areas in the home of tigers and leopards

On June 8, 2005, WWF China will have a celebration in Harbin commending the Chinese government for establishing 24 new protected areas (PAs) in Heilongjiang province with a total area of 1.8million ha - over one-third the size of Switzerland - from 2002 to 2005. The PAs are a critical area for the conservation of Yew trees, Siberian tigers, leopards and other endangered species.

Building awareness: Advertisement campaign

Throughout 2005, WWF will work with Ogilvy & Mather and media partners on developing and distributing print and TV ads aimed at raising awareness on WWF's work in China.

Shanghai: Celebrating 25 years in China

     

On June 9, 2005, WWF China will hold an event in Shanghai to thank our Shanghai-based partners and friends for their support for our conservation work in China.
