Senior Program Manager, Markets
Report To: Practice Head, Markets
Jointly Support: Guide other Practices for sustainable production and consumption that are crucial to achieve the goals of overall conservation programs of WWF China and the Network.
Location: In one of cities where WWF China has an office
I. Mission of the position:The position holder will play a key role in scoping and engaging target stakeholders for market transformation of WWF China, providing joint strategic leadership, representing WWF externally, and jointly managing team members and resources in the Practice. The person will jointly contribute to ensure the coherence and synergy of the Conversation Program as well as to support the mission of WWF China and the Network. A crucial element of the job is the promotion and emphasis on innovation in order to achievement conservation impact at scale.
II. Main Responsibilities
Strategic direction – Deliver advises on Practice goals and objectives, and ensure high quality scoping and engagement of target business for transformation in Practices especially for the highest priority of integrated goals for WWF China and the WWF Network.
Thought and content leadership – Provide a comprehensive view and expertise on the Practice areas by leveraging the best knowledge and ideas sourced both WWF internally and externally
Outreach to expert communities – Engage with the broader scientific community and represent WWF at events to build a formal community of experts and partners
Influence key actors – Work to change the behavior and policies of key stakeholders and build strategic partnerships with them
Spearhead Mindset Changes – Drive the mindset change and actively work on cross-team integration and collective delivery with other Practices and Function teams for bigger conservation impacts through Markets drive.
Resources Mobilization – Jointly manage resources assigned to the Practice and be responsible for necessary reporting and evaluation. Be responsible for the fundraising for part of the Practice and provide support to international and domestic fundraising initiatives.
External relationship building – Foster close relationships with key players within business, governments, international organizations, NGOs, institutions, foundations and communities
Internal relationship building – Jointly engage with other Practice Heads, the Management Team, functional heads in WWF China, as well as the Global Practice Community, and with other relevant conservation and operations staffs in the WWF Network.
Embed Innovation in the Practice – Strive to integrate the innovative thinking and innovation for conservation into Practice’s Define, Design, Implement and Adapt and Share cycle. Encourage innovation throughout internal and external engagement. The responsibilities are carried out by jointly leading the Practice Team in developing the long-term Practice Strategy. The strategy should aim to focus and energize WWF Network and external investments and resources toward WWF China’s Critical Contribution to the attainment of the Global Goal and Outcomes.
III. Profile: Required Skills and Competencies:Qualified candidates for this position will need to demonstrate the following critical competences:Strategic orientation: Possess strong strategic understanding, analytical and conceptual thinking abilities and skills at defining and communicating a pragmatic plan with broad impact that extends beyond his or her area.
Collaboration & Influencing: Creates constructive relationships with all levels of management and engages others to make joint decisions. In addition, fosters collaboration beyond the organization to establish a culture of enduring partnerships with internal and external actors.
Results Orientation: Demonstrates an orientation toward proactively identifying challenges, establishing priorities, and implementing viable solutions as well as fluidity at championing evolving priorities and direction for the organization.
IV. Qualifications:University degree in Environmental/ Conservation science;
Master degree in food area is preferred;
At least 8 years experiences in related area, 2-3 years in research, managerial or communication role is preferred;
Further qualifications in environmental affairs and/or business management would be an advantage;
Proven track record of managing internal and external stakeholders to influence and drive change;
Proven track record of effective learning;
Fluent Chinese and English.

Superlative diplomatic and communication skills with an ability to communicate with impact, and exert influence across a broad spectrum of individuals (government representatives, donors, public figures, staff);
