Position: Communications Consultant for Tigers

Report to: Communications Director, WWF China

Duration: July ¨C Dec 31, 2010

Location: WWF China Programme Office, Beijing

Principal functions:

To develop the communications campaign for tiger conservation for the up-coming Tiger Summit, lead the implementation of the plan, evaluate the effectiveness, and participate in the development of a longer-term communications strategy/work plan for tiger conservation.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the communication strategy and plan for tiger programme aiming at magnifying the programme results, engaging targeted audience and increasing the public awareness on tiger conservation.
  • Develop and implement the communication activities and campaigns for the Tiger Summit and other key agenda.
  • Build and maintain communication network by self or through team, with media, public, and other key stakeholders on tiger related issues.
  • Deliver tiger communications materials such as brochure and newsletter.
  • Prepare news, statements, Q&A, fact sheets about tiger programme.
  • Contribute information to WWF website relating to tiger programme.
  • Manage other information relating to tiger work, such as collection and filing of video, slides, photos and media coverage.
  • Perform other communications tasks related to tigers as requested by Director of Communications and Tiger Programme.
  • Working relation:
  • Internal: Communications Department, Tiger Programme, WWF Network
  • External: Creative agencies, media, government partners, etc.
  • Qualifications:
  • At least three-year working experience in communications, for example journalism, events organization, and campaigning
  • Proficient in story writing
  • Knowledge and experience in species communication as a plus
  • Proactive, innovative and result-oriented personality with good communication skills
  • Proficient English writing, speaking and reading skills
  • Able to lead a team, good coordination abilities
  • Adequate interpersonal skills, ability to work in a team with other staff in achieving common goals and ability to meet deadlines
