Major Function:
Technically focus on water infrastructures mainly dam and sluice gates to ensure environmental flows.
Update WWF China¡¯s strategy on dam and environmental flows issues.
Provide technical support to WWF China¡¯s field offices on dam and environmental flows issue.
Support to WWF China¡¯s policy work on dam and environmental flows.
Develop and maintain partnership and network in the dam and environmental flows areas.
Communicate and mainstream WWF¡¯s work in related areas.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide support to update WWF China¡¯s strategy on dam and environmental flows especially in prioritized rivers including Yangtze, Mekong, Salween, in cooperation with relevant WWF programmes (Freshwater Programme, Climate Change & Energy Programme) and field offices in those river basins.
Contribute to WWF China¡¯s policy and research on water infrastructures and environmental flows.
Deliver the Dam and E-flows Programme and prepare technical reports timely with appropriate format, high quality, and content, and within the specified time frame, to meet donor requirements.
Support the field offices to develop and implement related projects (or project activities) on dam and environmental flows.
Develop and maintains good internal and external relationships with donors and partners.
Help to build the teams¡¯ capacity with her/is professional knowledge and skill.
Share information effectively and efficiently.
Train team members via discussion and workshop.
Seek magnification & fund leverage opportunities.
Sponsor, fund, prepare and attend the priority river Forum including Yangtze Forum, Yellow Forum and other related conferences or workshops to magnify WWF¡¯s strategy.
Attain the support from government, communities, organizations, business, media and others stakeholders.
Perform other tasks allocated by the supervisor.
Working Relationships:
Internal: Administratively report to Director of Freshwater Programme, technically report and communicate to Dam and E-flows Program Senior Officer/Manager
External: Implement programs with partners, other organizations and donors.
Qualifications:
At least 3 years working experience in related areas.
Master degree in related fields such as water resources management, hydrology, environmental science.
Familiar with participatory facilitation skills and good project management capacity.
Dynamic, creative and outgoing personality and commitment to nature conservation.
Excellent inter-personal skill, ability to work in a big team.
Good computer skills.
Adaptive to frequent field travel, and willing to work in the project field sites.
Excellent writing in Chinese, good writing and speaking in English.
Abroad study or government working experiences would be advantages.
Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
Ability to develop and maintain partnership.
Good communications and fundraising capacities.
