The Minshan mountain range, extending from Sichuan to Gansu provinces, is the most important area for the giant panda because it covers the largest panda habitat and supports the largest number of pandas. WWF’s panda conservation work in Minshan started in 1997 with the implementation of an Integrated Conservation and Development Project in Pingwu County, Sichuan Province.
