In March 2002, the Qinling Panda Focal Project was launched with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between WWF and the Shaanxi Forestry Department of China. Since then, they have created 5 new panda reserves and 5 panda ecological corridors in Qinling, with another 7 reserves to be created by 2006.
